Working within the one-color budget defined by the client, I explored the idea of illustrating campus landmarks in a line-art style. I wanted to reflect L&S’s position as the largest college in the #1 public university and the great big heart of UC Berkeley with representations of not only icons such as the Campanile and Sather Gate, but also the Tyrannosaurus rex located in the Valley Life Sciences Building. To make the composition more dynamic, the illustrations essentially “break the grid” interacting with one another. The inclusion of the official Berkeley College of Letters & Science logo lockup grounds the composition and ties it all together.
